The DLCC was the first “green”convention center in the world and was awarded the Gold (new building) and Platinum (existing building) LEED® certifications by the US Green Building Council. The DLCC has three programmable outdoor spaces rich in native plants that allow visitors and wildlife to connect to southwestern Pennsylvania’s beautiful natural environment. The North Terrace is home to a large variety of plants that take advantage of each season and support a wide range of wildlife — Monarchs, pollinators and bird support plants, as well as medicinal and edible plants native to Southwestern Pennsylvania. In addition to the native plant boxes, Levy Restaurants maintain garden boxes that contain vegetables and herbs used for catering. This signage system helps navigate and inform visitors about these plants on the North Terrace.
